Bat Stays for a Longer Visit

The bat has been nestled between the storm window and the screen for going on four days now. He doesn't leave at night to go eat bugs, but the temperature has dropped to the 50's. It will get down to the 40's tonight, so perhaps he has chosen our boudoir as his wintertime roost! Time will tell. I read that they use the same hibernaculum year after year. He has the endearing quality of wrapping his wing or tail over his bottom to keep it warm. I fantasize about waiting til he is torpid, then taking him out and petting him. Of course I would not actually do that, but it's fun to think about.
