Bloated Squirrel

Is it just me, or does this squirrel look bloated? I had seen it eating the plums shortly after I put them out there. Maybe the plums did not agree with the squirrel, at least temporarily.

Cat with an appetite for Chipmunks

Here it was making eye contact with me through the window. I feel kind of guilty that I shooed it away since it was only trying to make a living, and was once a stray kitten I was feeding. But, I saw the chipmunk again after the cat tried to catch it, so that is good (for the chipmunk).

Chipmunk in Danger

I was sitting eating my breakfast looking out the window, and saw a rodent leap through the bushes near the pond. I wondered if it was a rat but it was probably a chipmunk. Then I saw a cat in the bushes trying to catch the chipmunk! I thought it caught it so I knocked on the window but it didn't react. So I ran out there and the cat ran off. I think it was a cat I've seen before that I tried to feed once in the winter when it was a kitten. It kind of stared at me so I walked towards it and it ran off some more. I was afraid to look in the bushes because I didn't want to find a dead or maimed chipmunk. I figured the cat would go back to it later. But I looked in the bushes and found a .... chipmunk hole! Yes! I think the chipmunk dove in its hole and escaped the clutches of the cat! Score one for the chipmunk!

Two Raccoons!

Last night around 8 p.m. I saw two raccoons which seemed to come from the direction of the deck. One raccoon walked up to the pond and began putting its hands in the water, fishing around for something. It didn't drink from the pond. I'm not sure what it was doing. I suspect it was either: looking for a tasty morsel (a tadpole), looking for a larger meal (the large frog--I hope not!), looking for the wooden ladder to lean on which we put in there so animals can get out if they fall in, seeing how deep the water was so it could take a dip since it's been so hot, or washing its hands. Then both raccoons hobbled off to the forest, and I saw the camera trap flash go off. I haven't checked the camera yet, but I will post the picture if it turned out.

Grape Eating Raccoon

"What's this? Grapes!!!"
"Mmmm..."
"I'm going to drag these over here so that light doesn't keep flashing in my eyes."
"Those were delicious...but I'm still hungry..."

"I guess I will see if there is anymore bird seed since there was a whole bowl full the other night on a tree stump...".

Bushy tailed Fox

This fox looks pretty healthy with a full tail. It came by within a half hour of the grape eating raccoon.

Miscellaneous Deer Parts

Unfortunately the camera didn't get a picture of an entire deer, only a nose, an eye, ears, and a chest. I kind of like the nose and eye pictures though.

If you zoom in on this one, you can see her udders. I wonder if she has fawns.
This seems to be a different deer. It's got a nice shiny coat, but it looks like it has an injury on its knee.
