Mangey Fox

This picture was taken Tuesday at around 5 pm. I wonder if it's the same mangey female in my last post.

Banana Eating Crows

I thought the raccoons would like the bananas, but I guess the crows got to them first. The camera even caught one crow flying away.

Another Similar, Yet Different Fox!

Leotis snapped these photos around 6 pm today, before I got home. It seems to be a different fox than the last one, although it looks like the same age and size. Perhaps they are siblings! It has blacker legs than the last fox, and is mangier and spent alot of time scratching. Why they both hung out on the pond deck I don't know. Perhaps they were the ones who had lived under the pond deck as babies!

After scratching some more, she ran to the front yard and peed. She was going to cross the street (near our fox crossing sign), but saw a car, and turned around and ran back along the house.

Fox Takes a Snooze

This little guy decided our pond deck was a good place to take a snooze, at about 3 pm on a Saturday.
We think he might be one of the runts in the litter from a couple years ago.

"Maybe I should trot off in that direction, but I'm too lazy to get up right this second..."

He's pretty small in the grand scheme of things.

The last picture before he ran off. The flash hit his eyes and scared him off. We wondered if he was not feeling well, but after he ran off, it seemed like he was okay.

Frogs

The big frog is more relaxed now that he is camouflaged by the duck weed, which has taken over now that there is more sun after the trees were cleared away.
Here are two baby froglets. One is hanging out on the leaf, which shows you how small they are.
They go scooting along the surface of the water, but they wouldn't let me catch them on the tip of my finger.

Raccoon Sighting!

Now that we moved our dinner table in front of the picture window facing the backyard, it increases our chances of seeing wildlife at dusk. Tonight we saw a raccoon come hobbling up from the park into our yard. It then made a beeline straight for the compost. Leotis had cleaned out the fridge earlier by throwing a piece of chicken out there, and it then made its way in the direction of the chicken. It disappeared and then reappeared (it, or another raccoon), coming out of the woods again, making another beeline for the compost. Unfortunately, the camera trap is sitting right here on my desk, because I took it down when they were chopping down another tree. Its batteries were dead too, but I will put it back up.

Taking Phineas for a Walk

He loves to sniff anything and everything, while he's not trying to eat anything green.
The second his feet hit the rough stepping stones, he loves to roll around on them.
The patio is his favorite place to roll around....
and roll around some more...

Checking Out the Wood Piles

It's hard to get a picture that's not blurry of a moving target.
Dead trees make great scratching posts.
More wood to check out, maybe hiding places for mousies.

Enough Fun For One Day

Here he is sniffing the rake I use to stir the compost.
