New Species!

This morning at around 5:30 a.m. I heard a new species! An owl! It was rather loud even though it was in the distance. No pictures, but I'm glad I got to hear it.

Happy Earth Day!

When we went on vacation almost a month ago, I came back to a half empty pond, which was bad news for the tadpoles. I filled the pond back up, and am happy to report the tadpoles are alive and well!

Best Fox Pic of the Year!

Here is the picture I promised. He seems to be posing and maybe he was caught off guard by my new camera location. I'm very pleased with this photo. Don't you just love it?!

Fox Sightings

Here are some fox shots to whet your appetite. We have seen a pair of foxes recently. I was hoping they were living under our deck, but I looked and didn't see anything. I'm hoping they are living nearby and that we will see their babies soon. I'm saving the best fox picture for later. I'm rather impressed with it, if I do say so myself. Stay tuned!

Squirrel

Squirrels are fun to watch, but pictures of them are not so exciting.

Good Deer Shots

These are my favorite deer pictures from my last batch. I like how the first deer's ears are all perked up, and how the second one is trotting by.

New Camera Trap Location

Here is an assortment of deer photos. Lots of deer were passing by but not getting their pictures taken, until I turned my camera to point at a different direction. I'm having more luck now. I'll post my favorite deer shots later.

Raccoon/Deer Encounter

I wish I got this on video. First there is a deer apparently licking its back. Then there is something in a tree. The deer is looking at it like, "What in the world?". Then the raccoon is out of the tree, and both the deer and the raccoon beat a hasty retreat. It seems they surprised each other. It's like the chicken and the egg. Did the raccoon climb the tree because it was scared of the deer, or was the deer scared of the raccoon in the tree? We'll never know.

Isn't my yard beautiful?

Yes, it's beautiful...only it's not my yard. (It's a wildflower meadow called Table Mountain in California.)
